The commentary flying around about what one faction or another ought to do in the ongoing middle eastern war led me to this thought: People are often less willing to put themselves in the other person's shoes than to shove the other person's feet into their own shoes. Don't we all believe sometimes that the world would be a better place if others would just march in our path?
I think this carries across to issues of poverty, sexual orientation, conservation, religion...more or less any point of conflict. And as far as I can tell, it serves only to prolong or deepen those conflicts.
