Different Kind of Trip

No takers for yesterday's query? I should probably restrict my fishing to waterways.

Today I'm taking a trip of a different kind, the annual end of summer barbeque with the family in Kalamazoo. We're asked to bring beer, which I can manage. We'll also probably make a stop at Dark Horse Brewing in Marshall on the way out. Kristine and I attatch that ritual to most of our kalamazoo trips, either coming or going.

Put my boat together for the first time last night, in my backyard. Took me only an hour and a quarter! The next assembly won't take so long, though, since I'm going to leave the frame together. I'll just need to inflate and strap on the pontoons next time.

Those pontoons are probably the toughest thing I've ever had to inflate, since you can't clip the pump to its valve, like you would with a bicycle tire. You have to hold it down with one hand and pump with the other. A lot of my time last night was spent just trying to figure that out. I assumed the end of the pump hose would fit snugly to the valve, but no. Sometimes I was pretty sure each stroke was pushing more air out than in. I also discovered that the "anchor assembly" included with the boat does not include an anchor. But overall, I'm happy with it, and eager to get it on the water.

I've already figured this boat will be more complicated than I thought. But I always say I like to learn new things about fishing, and it looks like this boat will give me plenty of those.
