While I was up in Grayling on opening weekend, I picked up a copy of Rusty Gates' new book Seasons on the Au Sable. It's basically a collection of some of his weekly fishing reports, spanning the course of a year. I always thought someone should anthologize some of them. As of yet I haven't looked at it much, but I expect the book should offer some comfort on long winter nights when the new trout season seems unbearably distant.
No long missive from me today, only this quote from the novelist Joseph Heywood (The Snowfly) included in a blurb on the back of Gates' book:
Envy not the man who lives on the river; envy the man who the river runs through.
Have a good weekend, all.
