Did everyone miss me?
Spring, and the new trout season, has come, and as I said I would on new year's day, I have returned. I don't have much of note to report from my winter. Kristine and I took one ski trip at the beginning of March, which I'll post a few pictures of soon. I went steelheading for two days at the end of the month and caught two. I won a grant to develop a new writing course, which will pair some of my composition students with high schoolers from an inner city youth center. The action of my shotgun disintegrated and two repair jobs couldn't get it functional again for more than ten rounds. I have joined the ranks of cell phone owners. Some of the classes I taught this winter were among the most trying I've had. I completed my own tax return for the first time in ten years.
No words straining toward wisdom tonight; just random details of small consequence, which sums up pretty well my experiences of the last four months.
Fortunately things are about to get more interesting. Tomorrow morning I drive to Grayling for the trout opener. I won't get the "four day trout orgy covering fifty miles of the river" I anticipated in my last post--academic duties limited that to three, and high water below Mio will restrict my fishing to the upper parts of the system near Grayling. Not that I see any hardship in that.
By Monday or Tuesday I will have stories and photos posted. I hope to see some of the old crowd back here again, and I look foward to meeting some new friends.
Tight lines, and/or just plain old good times to all.
