He Spent Five Minutes Staring at the "New Post" Button

Before he worked up the nerve to click it.

About one or twice a year (at least since the FTR glory years of 05-07) I get the idea to give this another try. And I do, for a few weeks or months, but then let it go. Sooner or later the idea returns and I'll be at it again, until I'm not.

After a few repetitions this becomes embarrassing. But people who can't stand a little embarrassment don't blog in the first place. Today over beer a friend was talking about a blog by a mutual acquaintance, and I mentioned this dormant effort. I'd actually been thinking about resurrecting it recently (prompted by some emails over the past few months asking, incredibly, if I was going to post here again), and as we talked, I made up my mind that I would.

Still, after I logged in tonight I started to reconsider. What is there to say at the moment except that I've been very busy, summer is still far away, and there's not much to look forward to then anyway since the price of gas will preclude much trout fishing?

I guess I could say I don't seem to have the drive to fish that I used to, that started and sustained this blog.

More later.

I feel the same way, which I rationalize by 'giving the fish a break.'

That's a good way to look at it. With less than a month before the season, though, some of the old fire is coming back.
