Last night, clocks all over America moved back an hour. Kristine, being especially fond of her morning sleep, treasures that extra hour. And not only on the Sunday after the clock falls back, but for as long as standard time remains in effect. She claims she never quite adjusts to losing an hour in the spring, and my observations seem to confirm that.
Yesterday afternoon, I mowed my lawn for the final time this year. I can't say I'm fond of any lawn-related tasks, and after the last cutting of the season, always just before Halloween, I relish the thought of not having to mow again until April. Between taxes and turf maintainence, April really would be the cruelest month, were it not for the steelhead run and the opening of trout season.
The upshot of these events is that the layout of time as we experience it has shifted just slightly in our favor. More than yesterday, time is on our side. Having gained that advantage, here's hoping we make use of it.
